Hi, I learned to play chess in my 20's during the 70's, hung out at coffee houses and Mechanics Institute and played OTB tournaments, enough to get an expert's rating which is still on file with USCF.  After about 5 years of play, new duties were calling; my new family and work.  If it were not for online computer chess, I would have totally dropped the game.  About 10 years ago I discovered ChessBase. I didn't play any online games at ChessBase but did solve puzzles in the tactic's module.  One player fascinated me, a GM who defeated a continuous line of GM's like they were beginners.  At that time, I didn't know who it was but now I'm convinced it was Hikaru Nakamura after spending the last 3 years watching him at Chesscom.  His style of crushing opponents is a very rare.  Now I've started playing regularly online board play through teams.  960 is a blast along with regular play; my favorite time control is 3 days.  Join Eagle's Nest and play teams from around the world.  Just thinking maybe I can get an experts rating here at Chesscom.
