Learned chess from my father when I was 7. Only book available for me to study was a teaching book dating back to 1917. So I learned a very defensive style, which did not suit me well in later years.

Played intermittedly in different clubs (PSV,Eindhoven, USSV Utrecht, Bennekom, Amersfoort, Driebergen) and was contest director in Lelystad for a number of years. Stopped playing (again) in 2003 and am now picking up online, encouraged by some of my colleages.
