Chess.com is happy to announce that registrations are now open for the Spring 2023 season of the Collegiate Chess League! This season returns with the 4 vs. 4 team format most CCL players and fans are familiar with and a whopping $30,000 prize fund—our biggest CCL prize yet.

Register today at our partner's NACE Starleague website if you're a university student who loves chess and wants to represent your university this Spring! Registrations close on January 13. To register, please complete the following steps:

Team Captains

Team captains need to complete two steps before the other players sign up:

  1. Register your team on NACE Starleague.
    • Here's an instructional video on how to do it if you need help.
    • If your school is not on the NACE platform, you must contact them to get it added either by emailing Joe Navarro at [email protected] or by asking an admin on the CCL discord server. Please only do this if you are over the age of 18 and are the representative of your college chess team.
  2. Fill out Chess.com's registration form.

All Other Players

Once your team captain has registered your team, follow the steps below:

  1. Register on NACE Starleague and join your team.
  2. Sign the fair play agreement.

The Regular Season starts on January 21 and ends on March 18. Players will have a week to rest before making their first moves in the Playoffs, which begin on March 25 and end on April 15.

The Collegiate Chess League is the best online chess league for college students. With more than 200 teams from 100 schools across 12 countries joining last season, the CCL continues to grow every year. As stars like GMs Awonder Liang, Nicolas Checa, Grigoriy Oparin, Andrew Tang, Ruifeng Li, and others join the league, competition is also getting fiercer by the year.

Sign up to be a part of CCL's history and play alongside other great college players. And if you're not able to compete in the event, make sure you tune in to CCL's Twitch channel to watch the live coverage of this season!
