ChessireKot

Hi! I'm Albert, a sophomore at Lakeside School in Seattle, WA. I'm a huge fan of chess (obviously), and am doing my best to improve in my free time!

My favorite players to watch are Andrew Tang, Dubov, Abdusattorov, Pragg, Rapport, and Firouzja.

New chess goals for 2024 (tried to focus more on study plan than rating bc i plateaued for so long in 2023 sad.pngsad.png):

- Consistently study + annotate master games
- Significantly improve at blindfold chess (1800+ blindfold lichess rating, comfortable seeing lines & board in head via consistent training on app (10 minutes on bus daily) - context: my visualization seems to be way worse than a lot of players my rating naturally, as unfortunate as that is
- Know 1. e4 e5 openings until move 10 + plans in >=2/3 otb games
- Feel more comfortable playing against d4
- Rating goal (rough hope, alright if I don't reach because could be a stretch as I learned the hard way in 2023) -> 1950 USCF by end of year, 2400 chess.com blitz

UPDATE: MANAGED TO HIT 2400 BLITZ ON JUNE 7, 2024!! Tilted back down rip but very happy with my new peak
- Stop feeling nervous when playing higher rated players (expert and above), get some results on the board vs top juniors in my state and/or titled player
- Get better at bughouse

Now for some about me:

Favorite music: Pink Sweat$, Boywithuke (got into his top 0.1 percent spotify listeners this year yay), Juice WRLD (esp. freestyles & Doomsday, so a lot of the rap stuff), Cordae, Shawn Mendes (lol, if you couldn't tell my music taste is actually just all over the place), finneas (love his songs lately idk esp Let's Fall in Love for the Night and Only a Lifetime)

Love tea, some favorites are Cinnamon Spice, Sencha green, any brand Masala Chai (also like iced teas)

Recently joined the coffee addiction team because of my horrible sleep schedule lol

Last tourney's USCF results:

tied for first in my last tourney! admittedly it was a small, one-day event and i was playing way down the first couple rounds since it's a swiss but still very happy with my play -- hopefully I can keep the momentum going forwards. finally above 1800 again which is a nice benefit too
